Fact-Checking Process

How we verify every factual claim before publication and correct errors when they are found.

Pre-Publication Fact-Check Steps

1
Claim identification

Every factual claim in an article is identified before publication. Compatibility specs, wattage figures, and technical explanations are flagged for verification.

2
Primary source check

Each claim is matched against a primary source: manufacturer product page, WPC certification database, or published technical standard. No claim is published without a verifiable source.

3
Cross-reference

For compatibility data, claims are cross-referenced with at least two sources where possible. Discrepancies are noted and the most conservative (most restrictive) figure is used.

4
Technical review

Articles explaining charging standards, battery chemistry, or electrical theory are reviewed against published technical documentation from IEEE or the Wireless Power Consortium.

5
Update checks

Published pages are re-checked when a manufacturer releases a software update that affects charging behaviour, or when a new device model launches in the same series.

Primary Sources We Use

  • Samsung: samsung.com/global/galaxy/what-is/ and device specification pages
  • Apple: apple.com/iphone/compare/ and support.apple.com
  • Wireless Power Consortium: wirelesspowerconsortium.com certified device database
  • Google: store.google.com Pixel specifications
  • IEEE: Published electromagnetic standards (for technical explanations)

Error Correction

When a factual error is identified (by our team or by a reader):

  1. The claim is re-verified against primary sources.
  2. If confirmed incorrect, the page is updated within 2 business days.
  3. Significant corrections (wrong compatibility status, wrong wattage) are noted in an editor's note on the page.
  4. The page's "Last updated" date is revised to reflect the correction date.

What We Do Not Verify

Our fact-checking applies to factual claims about device specifications and charging standards. We do not independently verify:

  • Individual user reports of charging issues (we report documented causes, not anecdotal claims)
  • Third-party charger marketing claims about proprietary wattages above the Qi standard
  • Charging speed claims for chargers that are not Qi or Qi2 certified
